When my Jaguar MK1 Resin Kit (Ref: RSB03) arrived from Pendle Slot Racing, I immediately got myself acquainted with the contents. I was going to copy the Inspector Morse colours, so looked on google for the colour combinations, got myself down to the local motorist discount store and bought Burgundy Red car spray paint.

Very important at the start to clean out the screw post. Then insert the screws to ensure a tight-fitting chassis once made. Put tyres on wheels (nice wheels) The motor comes complete with pinion.

Once again, as with all kits, start to remove burrs. Using fine, assorted shapes and sizes of files.

From the photos below, i am starting to remove the wheel arch. Filing is the safest way, using cutters or pincers is a sure way of cracking resin. This is a slow process, don’t rush. This isn’t big enough yet, but it’s starting to look good. Trying to Keep both side the same, moving from left to right.

Then starting to widen the wheel arch further, keep checking the chassis and wheels until they fit. Following the moulded shape, I’m sure will make it will fit.

Then bring out big Bertha, to smooth off the arches, resin dust all over the dining room… Eventually the chassis and wheel fit perfectly. Get a head, and paint the drivers head,

Complete the chassis using the trusty soldering iron and attach the eyes, you will need the plastic axle spacers at the front. I used spare brass one…

Attach the braids and she is ready, tested on my NINCO track. Paint the cockpit and attach the head, note the handle bar moustache… Remind you of anyone?

Start trimming the clear plastic windows (See first picture) in small amounts, to the point it fits nice and snug. Don’t cut too much off.

Trim off the excess black plastic (see 16 and picture 1), and fit the cockpit, for size…Looking good, don’t fix anything yet..

After priming the whole car in grey, mask out the whole car so you can paint the bumpers,. I used aluminium spray. Bumpers sprayed and car is primed.

Mask out the back Bumper, this is fiddly. Then mask out the front bumper, even more fiddly

Start to build paint layers, leaving time in between and not in the cold. Nice.

Carefully take off masking tape and touch up over spray or under spray. Nice rear end.

I painted the roof black by hand, and added silver to window frames, and grill. White head lamps. This is a delicate job, and use of Magnifying glass is essential for anyone over 50.

Painted indicators orange.

Looks ready to glue gun the glass in and cockpit.

Finish, by attaching chassis, perhaps a little more touch up needed. May be next week… Great runner.
